If you haven’t heard, Charlton Heston died yesterday at the ripe old age of 84. While I don’t revel in his death, he did kind of sort of go nutty with the whole NRA thing.

While most of the world remembers him for Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments, CH will always be remembered by me as Taylor, the wayward astronaut lost on the crazy mixed up ape planet. Talk about monkey love…

Anyway, I guess we can pry that gun from his cold dead hands now.

I awoke to the CNN breaking news alert on my phone today with the news of the death of Kurt Vonnegut.

As a long time Vonnegut fan, I was saddened by the news. So many things can be said about the man. He was a visionary, a great writer, and more importantly, a fantastic story teller. Those of you who haven’t read his books should brush up. They’re quite good. Comical stories of far off lands or impossible situations which metaphorically represent some twisted aspect of his life experience were his staple. Sure, he wrote some bland fiction, but novels like Slaughterhouse Five and Breakfast of Champions were truly his best work.

Goodbye Kurt, you will be missed.
